Pricepally launches new mobile apps and website, expands operations to Abuja

Pricepally launches new mobile apps and website, expands operations to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

Launched in 2019, Pricepally is a digital food cooperative that allows families and businesses to buy food in bulk or share food in bulk with other shoppers at a discount. The food comes directly from farmers and wholesalers, making it cheaper and fresher than buying from local retail outlets and markets.

There are three major challenges that contribute to the fragmentation of food systems in African cities; The first is that many people are too far removed from existing food sources, making it more difficult to access quality farm-fresh food, and food waste on farms and major markets persists. The second is that transport costs are often too high for traders to be profitable, which further drives up food prices, and finally, but most importantly, African cities have too many middlemen between the farmer and consumers, driving up food prices in a context of prevailing inflation.

Pricepally solves these problems by aggregating supply and demand through an organized system that connects customers directly to farm-fresh food products using the Pricepally mobile app and website. This system eliminates the middleman so that consumers can access cheaper food, while farmers and wholesalers constantly consume their products, thus reducing food waste resulting from lack of demand. Pricepally also brings food closer to consumers by organizing a logistics link that delivers food to consumers within 24 hours of ordering across Lagos.

If the most successful startups in the food industry are using technology to improve their offerings, why shouldn’t Africa, with its emerging markets, do the same? Determined to change these obstacles, Pricepally found better solutions with its new technological features.

In the past two years of operation, Pricepally has served thousands of homes in Lagos and hundreds of businesses, we are currently serving over 700 homes and over 100 businesses per month with double digit monthly growth rate and an impressive retention rate of 77%

Pricepally is expanding to Abuja in Q4 2021 and Port Harcourt in Q1 2022 to serve more families and businesses.

Reviews pour in daily from customers on how Pricepally makes food accessible and available, especially the quality and quantity of food delivered compared to local retail markets. In June, Bimpe left rave reviews of how Pricepally’s service delivers ‘real value for money’.

“I placed an order on the website yesterday and the items were delivered quickly today. I was dazzled! The quantities are more than imagined, real value for money. Say I just clicked on an ad with no intention of shopping, but you blew me away. It’s a satisfied customer who comes back to thank you. Definitely coming back. – Tope

To serve more families and expand its business to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, Pricepally has launched a new website, Android and ios Mobile app to support this.

Pricepally is supported by VC and will continue to strive to improve the food system and expand to more African cities.
