UCM Digital Health partners with Empress EMS to provide mobile integrated health for a higher level of home patient care
Innovative partnership with Empress EMS provides convenient and enhanced services medical care to help patients avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency room
TROY, NY, April 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — UCM Digital Health (UCM), a leading provider of digital health and telehealth, including 24/7 emergency medicine triage, treatment and navigation service, is proud to announce a partnership innovation with Empress Emergency Medical Services (Empress). This collaboration will provide mobile integrated health through a combination of virtual and hands-on medical care in the patient’s home, workplace or wherever they are when care is needed.
Empress and UCM work together to keep patients away from unnecessary emergency rooms, urgent care and hospital visits. This partnership allows Empress to serve as an extension of UCM Digital Health when it is determined that hands-on care is needed for a patient. If the MCU concludes that in-person treatment is necessary during a virtual visit, a paramedic provided by Empress EMS will be deployed to the patient’s location.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring the skills and expertise of our partner Empress to deliver a superior level of patient care,” said Steven Anderson, Director of EMS & 911 Business Development, UCM Digital Health. “The Empress Paramedics team can now partner with our UCM team to serve as the in-person eyes, ears and hands of our patients.”
Paramedics may be dispatched to the patient’s location for several reasons, including checking vital signs, performing a physical exam, assessing social determinants of health, and even performing critical diagnostic tests, including checking blood sugar and performing an electrocardiogram. Additionally, high-risk patients may receive high ratings if a diagnosis is unclear and additional support is needed. Intensified actions may include intravenous treatments, oral or nebulized medications, splints, or dressing a severe wound.
This mobile integrated health program reinforces UCM Digital Health’s partnership approach and enables the best innovative healthcare solutions to integrate with the UCM platform and ultimately benefit the patient. This model reduces costs, increases access and improves quality by helping patients get the care they need on their own terms.
“Working in partnership with UCM’s team of exceptional physicians will provide an innovative approach to delivering improved care in our communities,” said Jim O’Connor, Vice President of Corporate Development, Empress EMS. “As the need for expanded access to healthcare continues to evolve, our combined team will be perfectly positioned to deliver these valuable services in person and on time.”
“This partnership benefits the patient by providing them with a high level of care, where and when they need it,” said Marla Moskal, Vice President of Marketing, UCM Digital Health. “We have received many fantastic comments from patients regarding the tremendous value our patients get from this offer. Patients are amazed when we offer to send someone to their home. In fact, one patient said she thought the care she received was better than a visit to her local hospital.Just as importantly, she also felt safer after avoiding further exposure to the disease.
The service has been deployed in New Yorkand UCM plans to continue to expand the program nationwide in the coming year.
