US Air Force Files Metaverse-Focused Trademark
The United States Air Force is planning to enter the Metaverse, CoinGeek reported on Friday, April 22.
According to the report, the Air Force is considering leveraging Metaverse capabilities to help the military, after filing a application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to get the word “SpaceVerse” filed.
According to the app, SpaceVerse refers to “a secure digital metaverse that converges terrestrial and space physical and digital realities and provides synthetic and simulated extended reality (XR) training, testing, and operations environments.”
The report says the trademark application is an extension of the metaverse’s potential use cases. Although there have been no other military applications yet, the report notes that other departments have already seen blockchain reports, including the US Navy with its plan to create a blockchain project to strengthen medical supply lines.
The metaverse has been more prominent lately, especially after Facebook changed its name to Meta in October, aiming to capitalize on the virtual world in question. Many companies have also started entering the metaverse.
PYMNTS wrote that Limitless, which makes the Next Earth metaverse platform, has started offering what it calls a Metaverse-as-a-Service solution. The company also aims to deploy a $60 million venture capital fund to further develop the virtual world.

Limitless created its metaverse using 5 trillion non-fungible tiles and tokens (NFTs), allowing users to own parts of the world. Next Earth is said to have over 300,000 virtual landowners on its platform, having generated over $10 million in revenue since its rollout last year.
“I think most metaverses [projects] are just trying to recreate ‘Second Life,’” Limitless co-CEO David Taylor told CoinDesk in an interview. “Instead, we will create a middleware layer for the metaverse. With our API connections, any business, big or small, can connect to Next Earth.
