Worst Website for children ever!!!

This site is absolutely outrages! I have had 5TH GRADERS start crying in frustration over this site. The main problems are it does not encourage students to learn, the point system is unfair, and is destroys a students self esteem. I have had many of my students tell me "ixl makes me feel dumb...". And I'm not very surprised after I used it myself for a while I noticed the frustration and pain students have to go through. First off it is boring there is nothing fun about this and when students do complete an ixl all it does is them a sticker they can use as their profile picture. This reward does not make students excited and determined to complete the ixl. Which brings me t my next topic, this point system is very frustrating and upsetting for the students. Ex- a student just hit 70 percent they answer and there is a typo students score-68 percent. This is what causes students to start yelling or crying it's just awful to see students so distressed. I have seen many sites that when a student submits an answer and it has random letters numbers symbols ect. It has an option that says "sorry typo" so that students don't have to lose 10 percent of their progress. And finally the students self esteem, any student would not feel great if they get a question wrong. But to get a question wrong and then have an explanation not even explain to them what they did wrong only makes students feel worse. I have seen that many of my students get questions wrong on ixl and ask me "why did I get this wrong" and I tell them "try reading the explanation first" an they say "I have but I don't get my mistake". I read the explanation and the students do make a point these explanations are wordy and are hard to understand even for a teacher. Ultimately, I feel like this is your worst option if you are finding an educational site for your students. Even though it's free it's horrible.

Awful. Makes Kids Feel Worse

It's absolutely infuriating. My twelve-year-old daughter thinks it's awful. Especially the challenge mode. It is so unforgiving. Even if you get one question wrong you have to restart from the beginning. This is especially annoying when you are doing difficult alegerbra problems.

IXL is horrendous and must stop before it launches the next generation into complete unconfidence and depression

On several occasions, it has occurred to me how horrendous the IXL program is for kids hoping to learn. The system of getting a question right bringing your "Smart Score" up by minuscule amounts and getting a question wrong decreasing your "Smart Score" by drastic amounts does nothing but harm one's feelings of self-confidence ad self-appreciation. A seemingly simple 30 minutes of IXL has become torture for children everywhere where IXL can be accessed (see kids reviews). IXL has caused disruption in sleep schedules and the ridiculous and sometimes multi-stage workloads seem torturous to overcome for any and all that are required to complete them. And IXL decreases school morale, so imagine if schools used their budgets on things that nourished, encouraged, or improved students' surroundings and the ways students felt about themselves, as that has been severely decreased by the massive and sickening garbage heap that is IXL. I hope several people see this and find this helpful. Please recognize and act on this call to action to remove IXL

Wasted my children's time.

A waste of time. When you get to 70 and above you get a couple points and loose like 10. When my Daughter's school started making her use ixl she absolutely hated it and asked me for help. I have never been that smart so when we got up higher and the questions where harder and we got 1 question wrong it would send us back like 10 points. Waste of time don't even bother.

Total Waste of Time and Money

IXL only make a student or user want to get through the lesson as fast as possible without helping them learn it, the answering system will make you upset and if you get one question wrong once you hit around 60, it makes you go down at least 15 points.

Horrible, full of mistakes

It is OK to have 1 or 2 errors in a test that you can get around, but sometimes you just cannon get over them. I had a student who tried a Spanish test full of errors, so bad that almost every question is an error. They wrote something worse than Spanglish: "I comparo" -> which is total nonsense. I math it is a little better, but -x^2-11x was marked wrong, saying the correct answer was -11x-x^2, although the math standard for polynomials is from the higher-order term to lower. In a pyramid vs. prism calculation about formulas, the student cycled through all 3 of their answers and all three were wrong! They kept changing the "correct" answer to something else. To be fair, other auto-graded systems are generally full of errors too but the worst part is that it repeatedly insists on the wrong answer instead of sensing something is wrong when students are getting it wrong (actually right) every time and send the question for some intelligent human review. Not sure why schools are using sites like this. If more parents and students can complain to schools and teachers, hopefully, things will improve. Or maybe they are too lazy and just want such Artificial Stupidity to rule the lives of students.

#IXLIsOverParty

First off, it's rigged, second of all, I've had my kids cry and break down from this, especially my nine year old. If they get sued, I'll be happy! Caused depression in my 12 year old and stress from both of them. If you have this, delete it, it is a waste of money (to get a membership) and time, what I'm saying is: Even though it's free, it's terrible.
