Do the AirPods Pro 2 need an additional case?
The AirPods Pro 2 ship with a USB-C charging case (a version of the AirPods Pro 2 with a Lightning case was previously sold but is no longer available). Some will find the charging case to be sufficient for preventing lost or damaged earbuds. However, adding an extra case cover helps prevent damage to the charger and offers another layer of protection for the buds. Add-on cases can also provide the convenience of clips or lanyards, and some come in different colors and designs to add more personality to your AirPods Pro.
Do the AirPods Pro 2 have a different charging case than the first-gen model?
Apple's current charging case for its second-generation AirPods Pro differs slightly from the first-generation case. The newer model switches to a USB-C charging port rather than Lightning and has IPX4 weather resistance for the case itself.
