The Ministry of Social Security launches a mobile application to support women victims of violence

AKIPRESS.COM – The My Plan mobile application was presented to the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration on May 12. The mobile application aims to provide support to women victims of violence.

“The developed mobile app will expand access to women’s own safety planning tools. It will become another important step to build a society free from domestic violence,” Deputy Minister Janyl Alybaeva said.

Work on the mobile app took a year, said Jill Messing, an associate professor at Arizona State University’s School of Social Work, who authored the mobile app.

The application has been adapted to a local context. It is free and available in Kyrgyz and Russian languages. It is a kind of plan, which contains all the necessary regulations, contacts, procedures for obtaining documents, benefits, alimony, protection order, that is to say the whole panoply of support tools for women who have experienced violence, she said.

The mobile application will be useful to any young family, especially living in rural areas, to anyone who has suffered violence. It includes the functions of local authorities, the police, the state registration service.

“We have to realize that there is no universal way to counter violence, but we can give people a tool that will prevent it,” she said.
